For our task we had to come up with an idea of what the video clip would be about. This video turned out to be different than the previous ideas that we had for our other videos. To come up with this new idea we discussed in detail who would be the actors in the film?, what genre would it be?, what the plot would be about? and where the scene would be filmed.
In clip we all decided that there would be three main actors acting out in the scene. The genre of the clip is thriller. The plot is based on a young adult being abused by a gang leader and the attack is over seen by another young female adult who accidently bumps into him in the street. She has a flash back of the attack and immediatley walks away from him. The gang leader than notices her frighten expression and now is out to get her.
We disscused who would be who in the plot of the scene , thus Raja would be the victim getting abused by the gang leader, the gang leader would be dimiji and Jade would be the new victim that over sees him while abusing Raja. We also discussed the characters costumes, trying to make the clip realistic as possible. The victim (raja) would wear black scruffy clothes, this shows that she is in distress because she is being abused in the plot. Dimigi would wear a black tracksuit, with a hoody to show that he is the antagonist (gang leader). Jade would be wearing casual clothing as this shows that she is a random victim.
To rearrange our ideas we jotted all our ideas on paper by completing a storyboard of all the camera shots we would need to include in the scene. We labelled each camera shot giving detail of what exaclty happens at that part of the scene. Rearranging different variety of shots for the scene was difficult for the group as we had numourous choices for each scene.

Day 6 (Preliminary task evaluation)
What did you learn about the cameras and editing software during the preliminary task and what worked well and what could have been improved?
Although a couple of people in the group had already filmed before, we still had an opportunity to expand on our editing techniques and camera skills. During the preliminary task we have learned a variety of shots and techniques to shoot the video clip that we have completed. While we were planning the preliminary task we have experienced a number of problems that we faced, but have successfully overcome these problems. The main issues that we included were the complexity of the shot types. Therefore continuity editing was a problem in the video clip. To help us overcome this problem we decided as a group to keep the film and editing technique as simple as possible. To do this we made story boards to plan what shots were simple and acceptable for our video clip. We then followed these criteria and successfully completed a new video.
With the new video, the problem that occurred to us was that we did not know what appropriate sounds/music would match the scene that we produced, therefore was time consuming for the group. Due to the settings of the video the sound quality turn out to be poor, thus we did not add any audio to the video clip.
Also the lighting was a problem because we had to rely on natural light which reflected right onto the camera lense, this made it time-consuming for us to begin our video clip as we had to wait for the sunlight to fade a little. However this video turn out to be more successful that the first video because it was simple and there was also continuity editing. We had a clearer perspective of what we were doing. Doing all this has made the group co-operate together combining new ideas and overcoming mistakes.
Give a detailed, specific example of how you have used a shot/ reverse shot combination in your film
Firstly, the group have discussed how we would shoot shot-reverse shot. The group came up with a suggestion whether we should shoot shot reverse shot from the side the actors face or over the shoulder shot. We used close up shots at the side of the actors face and edited it to create shot reverse shot. The actors read the script and acted it out once individually and were filmed as they did so, and this made it easier to edit it in between, therefore this created a successful shot reverse shot. We made sure that the eye levels matched each other, thus this created a realistic conversation, in order to do so we have followed the rule of thirds.
How did you make sure that you didn’t break the 180 degree rule? Or if you broke it, what have you learnt from this?
In the first video the 180 degree rule was a difficult task to follow as it was very confusing for us as it was our first time we were taught this technique. However we achieved it through trial and error. By overcoming the problem we physically planned where the camera would be placed to shoot the scene. Once we have understood where the camera would be, we then started to shoot the video. This made us have a clear perspective of how we would shoot our new video making it easier for us. If have broke this rule then we would plan this by using story boards or planning where the camera would be placed to shoot the different angles.

Day 5
Last lesson we have completed the editing of our first shooting but there were a few problems that occurred as we were watching the completed scene of our video. The problem was that the camera shots were too complicated which did not show simple editing, this also did not include shot reverse shot thus made the editing of the video difficult which did not look like invisible editing. So, we had a discussion in the group that came up with a suggestion that we should shoot a second video and start all over again. The new video that we made was simple and we followed the criteria which was shot reverse shot, close up shots etc. Today we also successfully completed the editing and now we are trying to make treatments to our new video.

Day 4
Today the group are getting on with the editing task . We are putting together different aspects of shots together to create an invisible editing through out the scenes we have shot. Before we begin this we watched the video clip that we produced, however we watched the video clip several times to pick out the camera shots that we want to include in the final video. While viewing the video a number of times we also numbered the camera shots to put in order the scenes. We discussed in a group our perspectives of the camera shots/angles the would look appropriate for our video clip. Thus, this means that we have produced an overall plan to make the editing shots look effective enough.

Day 3
Today we have finally started filming our ideas after we put it all down and chose the best ones. We used our planning sheet that shows the variety of shots in a sequence which shows all the camera shots in order, this is so that we know what to film step by step. This would then help us to edit the shots in chronological oder. The shots we chose are filmed from different angles such as over the shoulder shot, close up shot, shot reverse shot etc. The group decided that the different angle shots would be used in specific matters such as shot reverse shot would be used in a coverstation. We used a script so that the characters cannot get confused in what they would have to act out in the scene. We also successfully completed the shooting the piece we put together. The next task that our group would have to complete is editing the overall shots.

Day 2
Today we began planning our preliminary task. We made a storyboard so that we can have a clear perspective of how the camera shots will be. We developed camera shots in steps and included all the camera shots that will be needed in out story board. The script was also produced today. We discussed as a group who will be the characters in the story and who will be mainly filming and editing. However, we all gathered our ideas together forming an organised plan.

Day 1
hi, today we have looked at the beginning of films to get an idea of what is possible for us to put into our opening sequence of our film. We looked at the titles, location and resrtictions of the making of other films. We also began to plan our opening sequence and what the plot will be.
